Planning a one-day vacation to Phuket is not simple, but it is also not too tough; all we need to do is prepare and plan in order to maximize the experience without going overboard. Given the abundance of tourist sites in Phuket, it is recommended to limit your day to just the must-sees. You could like to go to some well-known temples, swim in the pristine ocean, go to a night market, sample some fresh and local seafood, and engage in water sports. All you can do in one day is possible as we are going to see on our list what you can do here in one day.

The one-day itinerary below is what we suggest doing to get the most of your vacation to Phuket and to make it more memorable without feeling rushed as you drive far between each location from dawn to dusk.

  • Sunrise at Promthep Cape

Starting your day with the dawn at Promthep Cape, a breathtaking vantage point from which to witness the sunrise at 06.00 to 06.40 am, is a must if you want to welcome a new day on this idyllic island. It is well-known for its now-iconic lighthouse, which emits beams of light that are visible up to 39 kilometers out to sea. Inside, there is a display that shows the dawn and sunset timings as well as Thailand’s standard time, and an exhibition that describes the lighthouse’s history and the building process that resulted in its completion.

  • Big Buddha and Wat Chalong

Continue to the nearby Big Buddha and Wat Chalong, two of Phuket’s most photographed attractions in Phuket. The Big Buddha is a must-visit landmark in Phuket, offering not only cultural and spiritual insights but also panoramic views of the island (it is necessary to check the temporary closure of Big Buddha before planning the Phuket day trips). The Buddha statue depicts Gautama in a sitting position and is 45 meters tall and 25.45 meters wide. It is made of concrete and covered with Burmese white marble.

Next, visit For Buddhists in Phuket and the surrounding areas, this temple serves as a spiritual melting pot. Tourists and locals from Phuket continue to visit Wat Chalong, also called Wat Chaitharam, to honor his statue and another well-known monk, Luang Por Chuang. Within the grounds of Wat Chalong, the newest structure is a 60-meter-tall ‘Chedi’ that houses a Buddha bone splinter. In addition to several donated golden sculptures, the walls and ceilings are embellished with exquisite murals depicting the life of the Buddha.

The Big Buddha (12 miles), Wat Chalong Temple (9 km), Promthep Cape (10 km), Karon Viewpoint (3 km), and the numerous stunning beaches in the southern part of the island are all located in the south of Phuket, which is technically a fantastic area to start exploring. While the beach is undoubtedly the biggest draw if you want to maximize your time in Kata without getting out and about, there are a few things you can do!
  • 14.00 Experience jet skiing, parasailing, mini golf among dinosaurs, riding a man-made wave, and during the off-season, surfing. In the calm season, Kata is an ideal place to learn to surf since the waves are not too big and powerful. You may learn the basics and sometimes rent surfboards from a few surf shops. The 80-minute Siam Niramit show tells the story of Thailand’s history, spiritual customs, and cultural heritage via theater, dance, and music.

We would also like to suggest an option, which is to attend an evening show at the Phuket FantaSea amusement park that includes acrobatics, pyrotechnics, traditional dance, and even elephants. The event itself was amazing, and the procession and the grounds as a whole are an unparalleled sensory experience!
